other object with a force called gravity.

The force is directed along the line of
centres for the two objects. The force
is proportional to the product of the
two objects' masses and inversely
proportional to the square of the
distance between the two objects.

To the left there is a picture of an apple tree and Newton sitting under it, hit by an apple falling from the tree.

The back of the mug features the equation for the gravitational force and a picture of two people having a picnic and eating what we understand to be an apple pie!

McLaggan Smith Mugs is a family run business based in Jameston, a town only a couple of miles from the shores of Loch Lomond in the West of Scotland. Established by Willy Smith in 1974, the company is now run by his wife Camille and daughter Polly.
They may only be a small team, but their drive and determination has made their business extremely popular and successful. They have 20 fanstastic hard working employees printing and decorating the mugs in Scotland. Every week they dispatch hundreds of mugs all over the UK. They even have customers throughout Europe and as far as the Falkland Island and Japan. (It's great to say we are one of them!)
