Hello Kitty is a global phenomenon in the shape of a cute white kitten with a bow on her left ear and a fluffy bobtail. She was created by designer Ikuko Shimizu in 1974, and named after one of Alice's cats in Lewis Carroll's book "Through the Looking Glass". Japanese teens' fascination with British culture at that time contributed to making Hello Kitty an English cat, living in suburban London. Hello Kitty is not just a pretty face though!
