New Site launch! 4.30pm Tuesday 25th September 2007
Almost exactly three years after the site was first launched, CampusGifts.co.uk was relaunched today with a new design, new software and some great new products.
It's been a very busy couple of months getting everything in place for the relaunch, and all of us here at Campus are very excited about this latest step forward. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all those customers who have shopped with us since 2004, without whose support we would not have been in a position to make these improvements.
We hope that all of you, whether you found us today or three years ago, will enjoy browsing and shopping from our new site.
Best wishes, The CampusGifts team

CampusGifts parent company, Temptation Gifts Ltd, wins award: Independent Gift Retailer of the Year, South/South-East
LOCAL community leaders joined Amersham, Beaconsfield and Berkhamsted shoppers in congratulating the high-street side of the TemptationGifts family on being named Independent Gift Retailer of the Year, South/South-East, against stiff competition in a region which covers more than a dozen counties.
Glitzy Ceremony The award was presented by TV funny man Tim Vine, at a glamorous ceremony in London earlier this month. Receiving the award, company chairman Mike Adams sounded understandably delighted: We are extremely proud of this trophy, but we know that really, the award belongs to our customers. he said. Their continued support, friendship, and loyalty has been our inspiration throughout our 25 years in business.
Mike and Sheena Adams (right and far right) receive the award on behalf of the team, from Tim Vine and a representative of the category sponsor.
Local Family Business The business began in March 1983 with one tiny shop at the end of Berkhamsted High St. Since then married couple Mike and Sheena Adams have worked tirelessly to develop the company, in the process building up a core team of enthusiastic and hard-working staff and a loyal following of customers from all across the Home Counties, and now of course online. Twenty-five years on, the company enjoys a multi-million pound turnover, generated by 3 large stores and 2 websites, and fuelled by its own huge central warehouse. Always seeking to move forwards, Temptation Gifts now has ambitious plans to double in size again over the next five years, including a 5-fold expansion of the web operation.
Praise from Community and Business Leaders The awards, now in their fifth year, cover the whole UK and are presented by leading trade magazine Progressive Gifts & Home. Speaking on behalf of the magazine, publishing director Ian Hyder said: This was a richly deserved award. Temptation Gifts have been setting the highest standards in gift retailing for 25 years now, and were thrilled to recognise their unique contribution to the gift business in the south of England over nearly a quarter of a century.
Alan Watson, Chairman of the local Chamber of Commerce, added his praise: Temptation Gifts is a stand-out example of the high quality local businesses which make Amersham such a vibrant, enjoyable place to shop. Its a beautiful store and the staff are always extremely friendly and helpful. I hope this award will help them bring even more people into the town.
Chiltern District Council Leader-in-waiting, John Warder, was extremely proud: We all know that this District has some of the best shops in the country, but its always nice when someone goes and proves it! My warmest congratulations to Temptation and their staff, and to all the people of this area for supporting their local businesses.
Even local MPs were happy to take the time to congratulate Temptation. Cheryl Gillan (Amersham & Chesham) was fulsome in her praise: Temptation is a delightful shop, very useful for gifts and an asset for Amersham. Berkhamsted MP David Gauke added: The strength and quality of our local businesses is something weve always been extremely proud of, here in Hertfordshire. Temptation is a well-loved shop and its great news for the company and the staff but above all for Berkhamsted, that their success has been recognised in this way.
So from all us here at Temptation, retail or "e-tail", a huge thank you to you, the customer. We're all part of one big team here but we all know that neither side of the operation would be here at all, if it weren't for your support. This award belongs to you!

Update: 31st January 2007
Who Is Edward Monkton?
He's certainly a poet. There's no denying he's an artist. His philosophy is as profound as it it amusing. And we'd be the first to agree that he's very, very interesting fellow!
But who is Edward Monkton?? ...
It has been suggested, online and elsewhere, that a certain Notting Hill resident and professional card designer is "the man behind" Edward Monkton. Some of the emails you have sent in even went so far as to name this charlatan and give him credit for Mr. Monkton's inspiring work!
CampusGifts wishes to make it clear that we do not now, nor will we ever, give credit to this absurd notion. Edward Monkton is a man of vision and should be an inspriation to us all. That he has never allowed his likeness to be printed, does not participate in book signings, has never recorded a live interview and banks his publisher's cheques via a proxy DOES NOT IN ANY WAY suggest that "Edward Monkton" is the nom de plume of a mere mortal!!
Further suggestions via email would be appreciated, to sales@campusgifts.co.uk. Some of the thoughts we've already received include:
Edward Monkton is really the Penguin of Death. He only does the other designs to raise awareness of the Penguin. Once people are curious, they go to seek the Penguin, and then he kills them This is way #362. (Mike, Leeds.)
The real Edward Monkton lives in a small cave just off the A36. He wears nothing but a loincloth and paints his designs on the walls, in paints he makes from crushing berries. From time to time, local ramblers stumble into his cave and explains the stories of his pictures to them. That's how they end up being made into cards and purses!(Jenny and Louise, Loughborough)
I am Edward Monkton! (Edward, Kings Oxford)
Edward Monkton is not one guy, come on! It's the pen-name of a group of four people- a poet, an artist, a philosopher, and an interesting fellow. They work together but can't reveal themselves to the world. (Lili,San Fransisco)
more suggestions coming soon, I'm sure.....

About Campus Gifts
http://www.campusgifts.co.uk/ was conceived, created and built by Warwick University student Joel Adams in the summer of 2004, after having spent his First year stuck on campus, unable to find fun gifts to send to friends. Since then, its range of funky products at competitive prices has earned Campus Gifts thousands of loyal customers, not just students but teenagers, young professionals and the young at heart.
Backing for the project came from Joels parents gift business which has been trading online successfully since 2000, as http://www.temptationgifts.com/.
Both websites are financed and run by Temptation Gifts Ltd., which has operated a successful chain of retail gift shops in Herts and Bucks since 1983.
